Solly Gutman, Scratchboard / Scraperboard Artist.
Born in Cape Town, Solly is largely self-taught, with the exception of
a Commercial Art Course through the London College of Art.
Prints, postcards and calendars of his work have been sold through the District Six and Robben Island Museums, the
Table Mountain Shop, and tourist destinations along the Southern Cape Route, as well as to Interior Decorators, Framers
and Galleries. Original work has been purchased, not only locally, but in the USA, Asia and the UK.

Botanicals
The Cape Peninsula and its surrounds, has been blessed with one of the world’s richest diversities of plant life. It is also the site of one of the world’s finest, and popular botanical gardens, being the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, a tourist dream.Â
Numerous botanical images are shown, all originally photographed by the artist, and is regularly updated.Â

Cape Memories
The Cape has a number of specific and significant areas, which, mainly due to the influence of the Heritage Foundation, and other bodies, has been able to preserve such buildings and areas from destruction and similar.Â
A number of these images were taken originally in the 1920s from the Cape Archives records, but other images were mainly photographed by the artist.Â

Faces
Included are portraits of well-known figures and of children, teenagers, homeless persons, and other ‘facial expressions’.

Prints
Unmounted prints are available in black and white and in color and are wrapped in acetate packaging with backing board
Prints on canvas are available in sizes A5 to A0
